History of the Korean Society of Inherited Metabolic Disease

In 1993, the Korean Society of Inherited Metabolic Disease was established. After convening the meeting of promoters on January, 2000, the inaugural meeting was held on May 11 that year. Dong-Whan Lee was elected as the first president and Han-Wook Yoo as the vice president. In May 2001, the first issue of the Korean Journal of Inherited Metabolic Disease was published.

The Korean Society of Inherited Metabolic Disease expanded worldwide, holding the 2nd Asian Congress of Inherited Metabolic Diseases and the 12th Asian-European Workshop of Inborn Errors of Metabolism (2012) in South Korea
